Our History
The San Pasqual Reservation Fire Department was established in 1998. As of June 2019, the fire department has 20 paid personnel. The fire department has a 2004 Type 1 HME Engine with 1000 gallon capacity, a 2017 Type III HME Brush engine with 500 gallon capactiy, two command vehicles, and a 2009 100 foot Smeal Tractor Driven Aerial Truck that was put into service November of 2010. As the San Pasqual Reservation Fire Department, we are dedicated to Fire Prevention, Life Safety and Training. We are proud to serve the San Pasqual Indian Reservation and surrounding communities, and we respect the ways and traditions of all the people we care for. We are grateful and proud to be part of this community and will continue to do our best for all we serve. The communities of Valley Center, Rincon, Pauma Valley, Mesa Grande, Palomar Mountain and CAL FIRE San Diego Unit are all surrounding communities with paid and volunteer fire departments. Since the late 1990’s the Fire Departments of these surrounding communities have worked together in times of emergency to provide citizens of North San Diego County with fire, rescue, and emergency medical services. Through these collaborations the need for standardized and accessible training was identified. It was also during this time that the fire service training in general is becoming more standardized.
